Harriet Harman, the
Minister for Women and Equality, is to argue that a major change in the law is needed to alter the perception that people are "past it" once they reach 65.
Labour's deputy leader will today announce a fast-track Government review of the retirement age, and will argue it is "arbitrary" and "bears no relation to people's ability".
"People are remaining active and healthy well into their older years. But at the moment there is no legal backing for you if you want to stay at work, so what we are proposing is
a massive public policy change."
